Tencent Wuhan R&D Center
Wuhan, Hubei
Tencent Wuhan R&D Center is located in Wuhan Jiangxia Economic Development Zone, with a total construction area of 77,500 square meters. The completion of the project not only enhances the regional energy level, but also becomes an important gateway for Tencent Group's diplomatic reception in Central China, and an important display window for Tencent Group's international image.
The planned land for the project faces both lakes, urban roads to the south, and urban green spaces to the east. The natural ecological conditions are very superior. The planning starts from factors such as corporate needs, local humanities, and site characteristics, and shapes an international standard office park with a triple design concept.

The starting point of the design is to reflect Tencent’s corporate image and corporate culture, highlight Tencent’s leading position in the international Internet industry, and provide corporate employees with a green and comfortable office environment. Based on the interpretation of Tencent, we believe that the architectural image must be generous and exquisite, the space must be smooth and permeable, the office environment must be comfortable and efficient, and the outdoor environment must be poetic and ecological.
In addition to reflecting the corporate image with architectural forms and spaces, we also hope to implement the "people-oriented" corporate culture throughout the design: Tencent's employees are around 28 years old on average and come from all over the country. We focus on the psychological characteristics of this age group, and use the construction carrier to increase the sense of belonging of this group. Therefore, our design includes keywords such as "individuality", "comfort", "poetic", "care" and so on. The designer will realize this goal from all dimensions and make the whole design full of humanistic care.
The shaping of comfort makes Tencent Wuhan R&D Center a model for many modern office buildings. From the parking lot to the elevator hall, from the panoramic office area to the experiential dining area, the unique waterfront location conditions provide favorable conditions for the creation of all-round comfort. Looking out from the rest area, the 180° scenery is unobstructed, and the staff rest and talks here have become an important part of happy work.

▲Building generation logic
Based on site analysis, there is a large lake in the southwest with superior environmental conditions, and the south faces the city road. Therefore, the main entrance is arranged on the south side, and the office area is expanded in the north-south direction in order to fully obtain the lake view. In terms of architectural form, considering that the "belt-like" layout space is too monotonous, the designer uses "bending" techniques to obtain the diversity of spatial changes. The building spreads along the lake in a broken line to maximize the waterfront perspective. The cutting of the shape and the superposition of the virtual and the real creates a sense of modern art and sculpture, winding on the lakeshore.
Taking into account the influence of local humanities on the architecture, the designer adopted dark gray, off-white, and wood colors as the main colors of the building. Through the description of materials and details, the building exudes a calm and atmospheric modern Chinese cultural temperament.
The skin design adopts the vertical mechanism, and the window is opened on the turning surface. The overall shape highlights the high-tech sense of the enterprise and at the same time solves the internal ventilation problem ingeniously.
▲Venue generation logic
The designer takes the human experience as the starting point and creates a rich and interesting architectural experience through the architectural layout of the broken line: the traffic function is concentrated on the south and east of the site, so that the west and north sides of the lake form a complete pedestrian leisure area . Walk through the park, pass by the landscape pond, and have a panoramic view of the great lake. In the square area on the south side, the designer connects the square and the lake view in the same visual corridor through a 30-meter-span height space, so that the entire lake view is unobstructed.
We follow the design concept of "Nature Harmony" and have designed a number of experience spaces close to nature in various parts of the building. The core of landscape design is to allow every employee to enjoy the rare pastoral and natural scenery outside of stressful work. In front of the natural environment, the building seems to be in it, blending with it.
▲Atrium
The design of the internal space and facilities of the building, the lake viewing wooden platform, the semi-underground landscape garage, the sky landscape terrace, the stadium used by the employees adopts ecological concept technology, and all have reached the international LEED standard and the national green two-star standard.
