Shenzhen Guangming New District Public Service Platform
Shenzhen, Guangdong
Through the architectural design of the Guangming Public Service Platform, we tried to start from the surrounding ecological environment and set aside a larger public space for the city through a compact layout to create a different public service building.

▲Real view of the nort
The proposal in the bid for the project suggested that the building should adopt the layout of the north-south main building and the east and west wings to form a rigorous posture of axis symmetry. This form itself is in line with the usual practice of a public building.
▲Recommended layout form of control regulations
▲The rigorous and symmetrical planning pattern is a bit similar to the grand teacher chair, classical and stable
However, when surveying the site, we found a small hill about 30 meters high in the center and south of the project site. There is also a lot of dumped soil from the surrounding construction sites in the site, which shows that dumping of this section of the earth has been very difficult. If the layout suggested in the original task book is continued, it will be necessary to dig down this hill, which will intensify the contradiction of earth dumping. At the same time, it will also destroy the good vegetation on the hill, which is a pity. Therefore, we propose to keep these two hills, on the one hand, it can reduce the excavation; on the other hand, it can form a group of green hills extending to the north side of Niushan, and merge with the ecological protection area of the whole new area. This is not only aimed at real problems, but also advocated by the low-impact development model of Guangming New Area. The owner finally accepted our proposal.

Corresponding functions are internal office and external services. We divide the building into two sections with different forms. The office space is located on the upper part and is made into a square and practical rectangular volume; the bottom part is the external public service hall, conference hall and foyer. We made this part of the roof into a wavy free-form surface and a large area of floor-to-ceiling transparent glass to create Create a relaxed and open space atmosphere.

The two separate buildings are glued together through a section of curved perforated aluminum curtain wall. The "broken" part leaves a passage for the line of sight to pass through the building and forms a passage for airflow.
▲Real picture
The wind can pass through the perforated aluminum panels and blow into the three upper office atriums from the hidden tunnels, forming a breathable cross-sectional structure.

The upper office part uses the atrium to optimize the internal lighting, and the huge vents become modern sculptures in the courtyard. The staggered volumes above the atrium are some meeting rooms and corridors, which also create a dynamic atmosphere.

In the public service hall at the bottom, the undulating curved roof descends into the hall, and people can follow an outdoor step from the center of the hall to the second-story garden; the ground also cooperates with the roof undulations to do some sinking treatments to guide people into the underground floor. Lecture hall. We hope that such a special spatial form can make citizens feel the different service image and service attitude of Guangming New District.
