Comprehensive Cultural Service Building, Xin'an Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen
Shenzhen, Guangdong

The Comprehensive Cultural Service Building of Xin'an Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, is located on the west side of the intersection of Guangshen Road and Shangchuan Road, Bao'an District, Shenzhen. It integrates a comprehensive cultural activity center, a community comprehensive service center and a bus terminal. The first floor and mezzanine floor are the first and last bus stations, the 2nd to 3rd floors are the community integrated service center, the 3rd to 6th floors are the comprehensive cultural activity center, the roof is the outdoor activity venue, and the underground 1 to 3 floors are the equipment room and parking garage.

A box

Scarcity of public space: The land of the Comprehensive Cultural Service Building in Xin'an Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen is an approximately square plot with an area of about 3,300 square meters, of which about 2,800 square meters will be used as the first and last bus stations. Closed management will be implemented, leaving only about 500 square meters on the ground. The area can be used as a public activity space such as pedestrian passages, community services and the entrance lobby of the cultural activity center. The small public space on the ground is not enough to meet the needs of diverse people. Therefore, we vertically stack the first and last bus stations, the community comprehensive service center, and the cultural activity center in a square box not exceeding 24m to create more public space in the vertical dimension. space.

A corridor

Three-dimensional public space: After putting the functional space in the square box, we are thinking about how to integrate the city and the architectural public space? Therefore, we learned from the path of Chinese gardens and introduced a ramp corridor that hovered around a square box, connecting the urban public space, bus terminal, community comprehensive service center, and comprehensive cultural activity center into a three-dimensional public space at multiple elevations. space.

Urbanization of public space: This corridor is not only a linear traffic space, it should be given the attributes of open block space. The working hours are used as auxiliary transportation space to reach the community comprehensive service center and cultural activity center; it can be independently used as a public activity space for surrounding residents during the closed time period to stimulate diverse behaviors.

A shadow

Permeability of public space: The spatial combination of "a box + a corridor", its spatial interface presents both real and virtual, open and close, and a transitional state of penetration from indoor public space-semi-outdoor public space-urban public space. When the sun shines on it, and the crowd walks around, it will project segments of light film full of scenes of urban life.

A forest

Public space identification: As a public building, the proper facade form helps to enhance its spatial identification. The unfolded surface of the façade is paved with 3D perforated panels to form "a piece of forest", which complements the surrounding urban woods, and the building interacts with the urban space. The double-layer structure of 3D perforated board + tempered laminated glass forms a unique identification element on the interface between the inner and outer spaces, and at the same time becomes a noise reduction and shading system, which helps reduce building energy consumption.

A box, a corridor, a shadow, a forest, a building, a city...
